Maranta, Calathea and Stromanthe. All are known and cherished for their extraordinary decorative foliage and are sometimes called Prayer Plants due to the way the leaves close upwards in a prayer-like fashion in the dark.
The Burle Marxii Amabilis has long, oval, grey-green leaves with a stunning fishbone pattern.
Plant Care
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Will tolerate some degree of shade; however insufficient light may cause loss of variegation in the leaves. Too much light on the other hand will cause the leaves to fade.
- Water: Keep soil moist at all times. Allow the top of the soil to dry out slightly before watering
-
Temperature: Normal room temperatures from 16-24°C but can cope with as low as 13°C.
-
Humidity: High humidity levels are an advantage. Stand on a wet pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently
